Presented as part of the "Virtual Marketing Magnets" workshop at the July 28, 2006 meeting of the Bay Area Consultants Network
Podcasting is hot. Oxford named "podcast" the word of the year in 2005, and now everyone from corporations to politicians is jumping on the bandwagon. Find out why podcasting is such a good marketing tool for consultants and how you can use it for your business.
This includes everything in the "out-take" slides, plus lots of resources to help you get started with your podcast marketing. Laid out as a mind map courtesy of Mind Manager 6 Pro.
Sorry, you need Internet Explorer 4.0 or above for this to work properly. That's because PowerPoint is a Microsoft product.
One slide per page.
Why "out-takes?" Simple. I ended up with 50+ slides for a 45-minute presentation. There was no way it was all going to fit in. I cut these slides in favor of emphasizing techniques for listeners and warnings against jumping into podcasting without adequate preparation.
The self-playing kind, so you don't have to have PowerPoint in order to watch it.
I forgot to turn the recorder on until I was 10 minutes or so into the presentation, and the recording suffers from static (caused by I don't know what, a I know very little about sound equipment). But you might still find it a helpful companion to the slides, so I've uploaded it anyway. It's about 10 MB and 43 minutes long.
As co-founder of the Podcast Asylum, Author-izer Sallie Goetsch (rhymes with "sketch") writes and speaks about podcasting from the listener's perspective. She started "smoking the podcast dope" in April 2005 and immediately contracted a bad case of earbud isolationism, using podcasting to make connections and attract prospects from around the world without recording her own podcast . She works tirelessly to cure the epidemic of podcastus ignoramus among business owners. Her day job is turning consultants into authors.
