Experienced speakers say that there are always three talks: the one you plan to give, the one you actually give, and the one you wish you had given. When I first volunteered to speak at PodCamp West, Vic Podcaster suggested that I prepare a 30-minute talk with slides. However, there were only two rooms available for presentations, and many more people wanted to speak than could be fit into available time, so Vic collected us into panels and had us speak for about 8 minutes each. I was on the "Up and Running with Podcasting" panel, along with Jerry Franklin, Kevin Crossman, and Kris Smith.

What I've included on this page is an audio recording of the talk I actually gave and the slides from the talk I planned to give, modified slightly after the fact.

About the Author-izer

As co-founder of the Podcast Asylum, Author-izer Sallie Goetsch (rhymes with "sketch") writes and speaks about podcasting from the listener's perspective. She started "smoking the podcast dope" in April 2005 and immediately contracted a bad case of earbud isolationism, using podcasting to make connections and attract prospects from around the world without recording her own podcast. She works tirelessly to cure the epidemic of podcastus ignoramus among business owners.

A natural-born pedant, Sallie translated Greek and Roman drama for the stage and taught in the School of Theatre Studies at the University of Warwick in England before returning to the United States to start her own business turning busy professionals into authors at www.author-izer.com .
