I am all for do it yourself. What I like about book trailers is that it keeps the person who is visiting the website just a little longer and looking at the information that we are providing. A person may glance at a website and move on, but if he ever clicks on the trailer he will probably watch it to completion, unless it is really bad. It may take eight seconds to decide to move to another website, but if the trailer is thirty seconds, a minute or longer, the person may stay that whole time. http://www.timothyfish.net/Articles/Article.asp?ID=60
